San Ramon in spring is beautiful — warmer days, blooming landscapes, and family outings to places like Las Trampas Regional Wilderness or Heather Farm Park. But with that beauty comes a downside: high pollen counts from trees (like cedar, oak, and alder) that peak from mid-March through June in the East Bay. Local allergies spike, dust from I-680 commutes settles indoors, and homes feel stuffy fast.
A thorough spring cleaning isn’t just about looks — it’s essential for reducing allergens and creating a healthier space for your family. Here’s a San Ramon-specific guide to make your home pollen-free and fresh this season.
Why Spring Cleaning Matters in San Ramon?
San Ramon’s location near open spaces and trails means more outdoor pollen and dust enters homes through open windows, shoes, and pets. Tree pollen often reaches moderate to high levels in March–May, aggravating sinuses and asthma. Regular deep cleaning removes these particles, improves indoor air quality, and prevents buildup on surfaces.
Room-by-Room Allergy-Focused Deep Clean Checklist.
Start with high-traffic areas:
- Kitchen: Wipe down cabinets, appliances, and counters with eco-friendly, non-toxic cleaners. Steam mop floors to kill germs without harsh chemicals.
- Bathrooms: Scrub grout, disinfect high-touch areas (handles, faucets), and use HEPA-filtered vacuums for dust.
- Living Areas & Bedrooms: Dust ceiling fans, blinds, and baseboards. Vacuum upholstery and mattresses with HEPA filters to trap pollen and dust mites.
- Air Vents & Filters: Change HVAC filters and clean vents — recirculated air spreads allergens fast.
